Fons Documental

A space for consultation and knowledge preservation

One of the main objectives of the Fundació Ciència i Art is to acquire and preserve all literature directly or indirectly related to performing arts medicine or disciplines that enrich and complement this field.

For this reason, its headquarters houses a specialized library where visitors can consult most existing performing arts medicine monographs, as well as medical and scientific literature from related disciplines such as biomechanics, functional anatomy, sports medicine, rehabilitation, physical therapy, and performance psychology.

Periodicals and Treatises

International scientific journals and key works

The library maintains an archive of the primary peer-reviewed scientific journals in performing arts medicine and dance science:

Medical Problems of Performing Artists (MPPA)

Official journal of the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA, USA). The leading journal in the field.

Médecine des Arts (MdA)

Leading quarterly French-language publication on physiology, ergonomics, and specific conditions in musicians and dancers.

Journal of Dance Medicine & Science (JDMS)

International journal of the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) focusing on movement and dance.

The collection also houses seminal monographs by founding leaders in the specialty including Textbook of Performing Arts Medicine by Dr. Robert Sataloff, the surgical treatises on the musician's hand by Dr. Raoul Tubiana, and the clinical works of Dr. Ian Winspur:
