Scientific Rigor

Medical research applied to the performing arts

Atenent que les principals mancances de coneixements se centren en el món de la ciència aplicada als problemes dels músics, és aquí on la Fundació ha centrat els seus principals esforços en investigació.

The projects, while developed by professionals associated with the Foundation or the Institut de l'Art-Medicina&Fisiologia de Terrassa, have always benefited from the consultation and active involvement of experts from other fields and leading medical and academic institutions.

Línies d'Estudi

Key research areas

1. Musician's focal dystonia

One of the most feared neurological disorders among performers. We research sensorimotor dysfunction in the hand and embouchure alongside innovative neuromuscular rehabilitation protocols.

2. Exertional forearm myalgia

Study of chronic muscle fatigue and functional compartment syndrome in string, keyboard, and percussion players.

3. Lip injuries in wind musicians

Pathophysiology of the embouchure, orbicularis oris muscle strain, and prevention of fibrillar tears in brass and woodwinds.

4. Effort optimization and ergonomics

Design of ergonomic adapters, anatomical grips, and energy expenditure analysis to achieve peak performance with minimal strain.
